Our Story
Hello… my name is Teresa & I am the very proud founder of ProBeachBum - the Rolls Royce of Beach chairs!
It all started when we moved to a quaint little Victorian Coastal town called Ocean Grove USA. We settled very quickly into ‘Beach Life’ which we loved! Every weekend weather permitting we were down at the beach… flying kites & playing games. As Summer approached I got us kitted out with everything I could think of that would make our trips to the beach easier & more enjoyable… Boogie Boards for the boys, Jordan took to water sport like a duck to water & Jack was standing up on his board at the age of 2!!! Beach toys, umbrella, a cooler for our picnic lunches. The hunt for a beach chair began… I wanted a luxury model with wheels & some extra features for me to sit comfortably at the waters edge & watch my boys swimming & boogie boarding in the sea. My boys were dare devils & paddled out way too far to try & catch the Big waves… & there were plenty, my heart was frequently in my mouth & I was up off my chair waving them to come in closer to the shore! I found a chair with wheels & it had a tray which flipped out & I could stack the boys boogie boards & the umbrella on it…. Hooray!
My daughter Kiara arrived & I purchased a Radio Flyer Wagon which her brothers took in turns pulling to the beach with Kiara in her car seat & the cooler box on board… sorted!
Many years later living back in England, after sadly losing my Dad I began a similar hunt for a luxurious beach chair for my Mum. She lives in Bournemouth by the beach & I wanted to make it easier for her to get down there on her own with everything she needed, which unfortunately due to the English weather includes a wind breaker! Sadly even with the internet at my fingertips I could not find a chair anything like the one I had in America. I had to make do & I bought her a trolley on wheels & a beach chair with a shoulder handle so she could pull the trolley & put the chair strap over her other shoulder…not ideal, it was uncomfortable!
So a few more years on, after being made redundant due to Covid19 & with time on my hands I decided to search every corner of the internet…. Surely I thought, there will be a luxurious model available now!?.....NOPE!!?
The only beach chair with wheels looks like a trolley & you can only sit in one position!
So me being a True Professional Beach Bum… I decided to design my dream beach chair giving maximum comfort, security for valuables & extras for today’s modern needs.
